About Me
Hi! I'm Charlotte, a passionate realistic artist who specialises in painting the subjects I love most: animals, food and the occasional human.
My journey as an artist began during my school years. Growing up in the Cotswolds, I often draw inspiration from the wildlife in my surroundings. Initially, I aspired to become a vet, until one day I decided to sketch a pig. The reaction from those around me, with my own satisfaction and enjoyment, sparked my decision to pursue a career as an artist.
I have now reached a point where I'm excited to pass on my knowledge through teaching and help others achieve their dreams as an artist.

This course is structured into a comprehensive series of video lessons, where I’ll guide you through my complete painting process from initial setup to the final touches. I’ll walk you through brush control, colour mixing, oiling out, varnishing, and working on different surfaces, and we will practice essential techniques such as layering, the fat-over-lean rule, glazing, and refining details, ensuring your paintings achieve a polished, professional finish.
Throughout the course, we’ll work on four full-length painting tutorials: a still life, two dog portraits, and a stag painting, all accompanied by a reference image pack. You’ll also gain insights into creating social media content, learning how to film, edit, and share your work effectively on Instagram and TikTok. A dedicated module on pricing and commissions will guide you through structuring your prices, scaling costs, and managing client communication.
Finally, you’ll learn how to properly finalise your artwork — signing, varnishing, packaging, framing, and creating certificates of authenticity. In this module, I'll walk you through the fundamentals of oil painting, setting up your painting space, and acquiring the essential materials needed to begin your painting journey.
MODULE 2:Â
MY STEP-BY-STEP PAINTING PROCESS
This module covers my full painting process, from reference images and underpainting to final details. You’ll learn how to work in layers, apply the fat-over-lean rule, and refine your painting with glazing, brush control, and precise detailing. I’ll also guide you through checking tones and values, using a color picker for accuracy, and oiling out while avoiding yellowing issues. By the end, you’ll have a clear, structured approach to creating durable, realistic paintings.

PAINTING TUTORIALS
In the central 4 modules, we’ll apply key techniques to four full-length painting projects. You’ll learn layering for texture in a stag painting, creating depth in light-colored fur with Jadis’ portrait, balancing soft and sharp edges for realism in Lacey’s portrait, and mastering reflections, luminosity, and transparency in a fruit still life.
MODULE 7:Â
FINALISINGÂ & PRESERVING YOURÂ ARTWORK
In this module, we’ll cover the final steps to complete and present your artwork professionally. You’ll learn how to add finishing touches, sign your work, varnish for protection, and create a Certificate of Authenticity. We’ll also go over framing choices and how to safely package and ship paintings to ensure they arrive undamaged.
